Mr Burns: A Post-Electric Play

Design Statement:

Mr. Burns takes place at three different time periods post-apocalypse: seven months post-apocalypse, seven years post-apocalypse, and seventy years post-apocalypse. Act 1 takes place during nighttime in early October in a forest with the characters gathered around a flickering campfire. I used low intensity and angled tree gobos to create a dark forest, and footlights to create the warmth and shadows of the campfire. Act 2 switches between reality and the world of The Simpsons in several places. My color palette mimicked the colorful world of the Simpsons and early 2000s music videos. Act 3 is very stylized and very theatrical and dramatic. There is a distinct rise from Act 2 in how much color I used, with more uplighting and saturated colors for chorus.
