Design Statement:
Our version of Much Ado About Nothing takes place in 1941 and is set as a radio play, with the actors slowly becoming immersed in the world of the play they're performing. My lighting design showed the transition between the real world to the full immersion of the play. I used warm and cool frontlight to balance out the two vastly different worlds of the studio and summer in Italy, as well as a mixture of different warm sidelights. To help add to the look of the radio station we created two false electrics with old lights and cables, which I lit with sidelight. We also used uplight on our false pinrail and our actual lineset system to add to the overall ambiance of the radio station.
