Design Statement:
Shadows of a Christmas Carol is a collaborative work of theatre based on the original telling of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Our adaptation focused on the crux of Scrooge's story, while also having monologues, poems, and songs written by the cast interspersed through the show. The show took place entirely outdoors and was filmed on location. In my design I used the natural textures and shadows made by shining lights in the trees and buildings around us to create a constant ghostly and supernatural feeling. I focused on showcasing a stark difference between the ghosts and Scrooge, and the rest of the world around them by having a contrast of warm and cool colors, and I specifically used the same blue color to highlight Scrooge and the ghosts when they were on stage.
